Rubber Material Selection
| Rubber Material | Suitable Conditions | Main Characteristics |
|---|---|---|
| EPDM | Outdoor use, moisture, water, ozone, weather exposure | Good resistance to weathering, ozone and moisture; suitable for exposed steel tube ends |
| NBR | Oil, grease, general industrial environments | Good resistance to mineral oils and grease; suitable for machinery and equipment applications |
| Silicone / VMQ | Temperature variation, heat exposure, selected outdoor applications | Maintains flexibility across a broad temperature range; suitable where temperature adaptability is required |
| FKM | Fuel, oils, and selected chemical environments | Higher resistance to oils, fuels and selected chemicals; suitable for more demanding fluid-contact conditions |
Steel Tube Rubber End Caps Construction
The Steel Tube Rubber End Cap is formed as a molded rubber component with a geometry developed around the open end of a steel tube. Its structural sections work together to provide stable positioning and coverage of the exposed tube end.
- Cap Body - Forms the main protective section surrounding or closing the tube opening, depending on the selected configuration.
- Internal Cavity - Provides the receiving space for an internal tube end and can be dimensioned according to the tube's internal or external geometry.
- Retaining Area - The inner wall or retaining profile creates the required contact with the tube to help keep the cap in position during handling and use.
- Protective Edge Section - Extends around the exposed tube edge to provide a flexible contact surface and reduce direct contact with the metal edge.

Custom Steel Tube Rubber End Caps Manufacturing
Tube Size Matching
Custom inner diameter, outer diameter, cap height, and installation depth can be developed according to the steel tube dimensions. Different fit types can also be produced for internal plug-in or external push-on installation.
Profile & Material Adjustment
Retaining grooves, stepped sections, rounded edges, wall thickness, rubber hardness, and material grade can be adjusted according to the required retention force, tube geometry, and working environment.
Drawing & Sample-Based Development
Chaoyue can develop non-standard rubber end caps from customer drawings, CAD data, or physical samples, followed by sample verification and batch production according to the approved specification.
FAQ
Can the end caps be used on tubes with a slightly irregular surface?
Minor surface variation may be accommodated by the elasticity of the rubber, but the actual tube condition should be reviewed when a secure fit is required. Heavy burrs, deformation, or sharp edges should be removed before installation.
Do steel tube end caps require adhesive during installation?
Not normally. A properly matched rubber cap can be retained through mechanical interference and elastic contact. Adhesive may be considered only when specifically required by the application.
Can the caps be removed and reused?
Some designs can be removed for maintenance or transportation and reused if the rubber has not been stretched, cut, permanently deformed, or otherwise damaged. Reuse should be evaluated based on the actual installation conditions.
Can the rubber caps be used on painted or powder-coated steel tubes?
Yes, provided the coating thickness and surface condition are compatible with the cap's fit. Coated tube dimensions should be considered when determining the final fit.
